Beautiful Disaster

Beautiful Disaster

By Deborah Sharma

The human body is a beautiful disaster,
with our limited time and energy,
we pamper and primp it.
Yet, it breaks down and withers,
we hold bitter resentment as
it demands constant care for
optimal function or it throws a tantrum
spewing out disease and pain.
We nurture, dress it, even paint it
but it still edges toward slowing down,
screaming for patching up
of its burdensome leaks.
We allow its commands to consume us,
instead of using it for the tool that it is,
A vehicle to carry us through this journey
of physical transient impermanence,
to spiritual eternity on the other side
