Missing

MISSING By Deborah Sharma   As vivid colours drain from over-washed clothes, lackluster dullness seeped and bleakly froze our friendship’s once vibrant zeal, suffered melancholy of flattened appeal Like old paint chipping and peeling, flaking away at our heartfelt feeling, Once able to withstand any rift, we were forced to sail solo adrift I blamed the pandemic’s troubles, forcing us into segregated bubbles. I was going out of my mind in tears, I yearned to call but walls have ears We never had real privacy to talk, even afraid to venture out to walk. You are not a vacation

Image
You are not a vacation By Deborah Sharma You are always faithfully there, for people to openly share, their miserable troubles and woes, listening with compassion you chose Then isn’t it madly absurd, your own anguish is not heard? no one wants to patiently partake of your own wretched heartache They suddenly have no time too busy with life they chime to be the empathetic ear you need or the consoling comfort as you bleed You’re checked-in like a hotel, an accommodating motel, but you are not a vacation, or a pit stop gas station You deserve a reciprocated bond not forsaken or cheaply conned worthy of a true flame of your own and a wholesome heart that feels like home

A final goodbye

Do we know and follow, when it is our time to withdraw from activity and retreat into stillness of mind and body? Or do we drain energy with incessant movement and constant rumination?   Steady the restless mind –   contemplate with introspection on the wisdom of your season. Seek quiet sanctuary like that of a leafless tree, wherein lies knowledge and understanding Unshackled, thus transmute, do not renew, but become anew, in the light of peaceful regeneration, as trees know there is a season to create And a season to surrender
